UBS Consumption Indicator

The UBS Consumption Indicator published by UBS, is a leading indicator of private consumption trends, which is the most important component of Swiss Gross Domestic Product. The index is based in five components which are: new car sales, business activity in the retail sector, the number of domestic hotel overnights by Swiss nationals, the consumer sentiment index and credit card transactions via UBS points of sale in Switzerland. A higher than expected reading is bullish for the Swiss franc, while below the market consensus the result is bearish.
