HICP - Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices EMU

Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (EMU) is an indicator of inflation in European Union countries. HICP determines price change levels for consumer goods basket. It includes prices for imported goods. The European Central Bank considers the inflation rate of 2% a year to be the indicator of price stability in the country. If the inflation exceeds 2%, there is a growing possibility of interest rate increase.
